About/Contact

Stateside Rugby is just me, Hal Moore – thank you for visiting! Born in New York to an American mother and an English father, I was raised on a healthy diet of soccer and the major American sports.

It was not until I got to Vassar College and first set foot on the Farm that I fell in love with rugby. Coach Tony Brown runs a wonderful program there, assisted by the incomparable Mark Griffiths. They are great guys and have each forgotten more about rugby than I’ll ever know. It was my privilege to play for the Vassar first team 32 times from 2009 to 2012, including a memorable tour to Ireland in the Spring of 2010.

Since graduation, my passion for the sport has only grown, and in November 2013, I decided it was time to share my thoughts with a wider audience. My goal is to inform, entertain, and foster discussion. Over time, I hope that this site will become a useful resource for people interested in an American perspective on rugby, and that it will contribute in some small way to growing the game in the United States.
